In the early 1900’s, in the cold north of Canada, a young girl playing outside her home had an experience that would undoubtedly leave many individuals frightened, confused, and unsettled. The strange incident - which has gone on to become one of the more unique types of encounters on record - involved what is believed by many to be an extremely curious and disturbingly “friendly” bigfoot.

On July 6, 1977, three youths in Hawley, Texas, encountered what could be described as a typical Bigfoot-like creature. The encounter began on a hot day at 10am while two teenage boys - Tom Roberts (age 14) and Larry Suggs (age 15) - cleared brush from the property of the Abilene Boy’s Ranch. While sitting on the ground, taking a rest in the shade at a location not far from the surrounding tree line, the boys began to get hit with small rocks. Confused at first, the teens looked around in hopes of finding the culprit, but they could not see clearly through the dense brush and trees in front of them. Suddenly, the pair were hit by stones again, but this time around they were thrown harder as if in anger.

Reported in 1987, the monster of Haslar Lake made itself known quite quickly and fled the area just as fast. Encountered by three young men between the ages of 18-20 on August 9th, the monster was reported to have attacked 19yr old Ralph Marshall after jumping out of the trios boat in order to enjoy the water. While swimming, Ralph felt something thick slam into his left foot, he then felt an excruciating pain as sharp teeth bit into the same foot and tried to tear pieces of flesh off.

morton bay.jpg

First officially reported in January of 1960 (although the sighting took place in December of 1959), the creature was dubbed Moreton Bay’s very own Loch Ness Monster. Seen by three eye witnesses - Ron Spencer (22 at the time), Jeanette Spencer (wife, 21), and friend John Belcher (22) – while in a boat fishing, the creature was encountered nearly two miles from shore. Mr. Spencer stated that while out on the water, a brownish-black head nearly 2ft wide surfaced from below the water and rose up to nearly 3ft not far from their boat. The unknown creature appeared to look around the area for a moment before spotting their boat, it then quickly dived back below the surface causing a huge splash.

Cryptid Profile: The Lake Ripley Monster

August 19, 2018  /  adam benedict

lake ripley.jpg

As the man looked back out onto the lake, he caught sight of what he described as an “undulating form” in the shape of a giant snake. The fisherman stated that the head of the creature was beneath the surface, but that he watched it until it was no longer in sight. After his viewing, he told some local fisherman and farmers around the area about what he saw and was reassured that he wasn’t crazy when they confirmed that they had also seen the beast before and that it was nearly 50ft long.
