So what is so special about this deadly snake that resides in Africa? Besides its potent venom and enormous size, the snake is also said to possess a brownish-black skin tone, a bright red face, a red bony coxcomb, and facial wattles like that of a rooster. Oh yeah, it is also able to crow, again just like a rooster.

“If Sasquatch is purely legendary, the legend is likely to be a long time in dying. On the other hand, if Sasquatch does exist, then with the Sasquatch hunts being mounted and the increasing human population, it seems likely that some hard evidence may soon be in hand. Legendary or actual, Sasquatch excites a great popular interest in Washington.”

**Note: While I don’t technically consider this creature to be a real flesh and blood Cryptid, I do believe it has enough history to be written about. For that reason, I place it into the same category as a werewolf.

buru.jpg

The witness descriptions of the Buru say that the creature is/was between 11 and 15ft long, possess a nearly 2ft long head, a flat nose and deep set eyes located behind it. Within its long mouth were four long fang-like teeth (2 on top and 2 on bottom), all the rest of the teeth were flat. It had a forked tongue. The neck was said to be nearly 3ft long and was thought to be able to stretch out like a turtle (thus allowing its head to breach the surface of the water). The skin color was a dark, almost blackish blue and was broken up by white blotches and a somewhat white belly. Its body and tail were somewhat round and its four legs were said to be stumpy and adorned with claws. There were also said to be three rows of short spine-like bumps running down its sides and back. The diet of the Buru was unknown by the two tribes, but they were sure in their assumptions that it did not eat fish.

In the early 1990′s, reports of a strange creature started filtering out of Buderim, an urban center on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Witnesses of the creature all described it the same way and all stated that it did not resemble any living animal within the region. What it did resemble though was a creature that once thrived in Australia, a creature that was known by many different names, a creature that many people feel died out on September 7th, 1936, a creature that many people believe is actually a Thylacine.

All of these turtles can grow to a wide range of sizes, some clock in at only a few inches long while the largest (the Leatherback) is able to grow anywhere from 4ft to 9ft long. But what if there was a turtle that was able to grow to sizes never before imagined, quite possibly nearing that of a whale, what would you call it? Simple, The Father of All Turtles.
