Cryptid Profile: The Namibian Monster
The Namibian Monster (aka The dog-headed pig monster) is described as having a head that resembles that of a dog, but with the body of a large pig. The animal is whitish gray in color and has a hairless back and shoulders. The creatures body is thick and its shoulders are broad, much like that of a warthog or wild boar. The footprints are almost canine in appearance but do not resemble any known dog in the area. The creature is thought to stand around 4ft tall and weigh around 150-200lbs. It is said to be extremely aggressive and has no fear in going up against a human.
Since 2009, residents of Namibia (on the west coast of Africa) have reported seeing the creature attacking their livestock and chasing/attacking their dogs. Some locals believe the creature to be a result of black magic from an angry witch doctor, while others believe the monster is an alien (it must be noted that many residents of sub-Saharan Africa still have a strong belief in local magic from the earth as well as from warlocks and witch doctors. These beliefs date back to their early ancestors in the region). Local police in the area do not adhere to the magical alien animal theory though, they believe that the animal (although unknown) is of flesh and blood origin and possibly a result of misidentification or a possible sick/deformed known animal.
Until the creature is caught and killed though, the tribes within Namibia have avoided going out into the brush alone and now only go out in large groups so as to avoid a one on one encounter with the Namibian Monster.
