What you believe the creature was: Large Black Dog
Message: “Walking in the woods at 3 am (I work third shift) with my Shepherd/Heeler mix. Turned to see a huge black dog about 15 feet away, my dog is completely ignoring it. I stand frozen for a second, wondering why my dog is not going crazy that there is a giant black dog right there. I turn my head for a second to watch my dog, and when I look back, the black dog is gone. I stand there for a few minutes looking around, then my dog returns, walks to a spot just past where the other dog was last standing, and his tail slowly stops wagging, and his fur stands up, and he snarls and sprints off into the woods. I can hear him barking as if he has treed something, and he is trying to get me to his location. I get there, but there is nothing there. Thinking back, the shoulders and neck of the black dog were strange, and his back was far too high. Too high to be any dog around here. I spend months with my dog on unsupported wilderness trips, there is no chance another dog would be that close to me and he just ignores it. Impossible. As we left, he chased something across a field, I could not see what he chased and could only find his tracks.”
